In my opinion, yes it's worth it to upgrade to Dolby Atmos from your standard 5.1 home theater set up. To my ears, Atmos sounds fuller and clearer than regular 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. The sounds coming from the height channels really makes you feel like you're in the movies you're watching.
